Today we traveled to California with Grandma and Grandpa Thurston! We spent the afternoon at the beach. This was the first time Katelee has ever seen the ocean - what a magical experience it is to see the ocean for the first time! We had a lot of fun searching for shells, running in the waves, digging in the sand, and trying not to get too wet! Funny story: Grandpa was sitting on a towel with all our stuff when a GIGANTIC wave came out of nowhere! Seriously, this wave came up like 5 feet higher onto the beach than any other before or after! Poor grandpa! The poor little moat we'd built in the sand to protect the towel didn't stand a chance! He got pretty wet, as did much of our stuff. There was no lasting damage done, though, and it's a pretty funny memory now!
