Christmas 2011

Christmas Eve this year was sweet. By this time, the only people still at my mom's house were our family and Brittany and Todd. Mom made a delicious dinner. Then we drove around town to look at some Christmas lights, and played our annual game of I Spy with Christmas decorations. When we got home, we did our normal traditions: we opened our Christmas jammies, hung our stockings, put a plate of cookies out for Santa, and then went to bed.

I have to write about the curse of the Christmas jammies this year! I bought the kids cute matching Christmas jammies. Katelee's are red with little kittens on them that are hiding in green mittens. Blake's were green and red and said "My First Christmas" on them. After opening them up, we put the kids in their p.j.'s and got all set to take pictures in front of the tree of the kids and all the family in all our new Christmas p.j.'s. Just then, poor Blake had a huge spit-up. It went everywhere and drenched his poor Christmas pajamas. Total time spent in them on Christmas Eve: less than 5 minutes.

Oh, well! We threw the pajamas in the wash and put him in his cozy moose p.j.'s and went to bed. On Christmas Day after church, we all came home and changed into our clean Christmas pajamas to attempt another picture. Blake was happily laying on his blanket in his new jammies, and I went to convince Katelee to leave her toys for just a quick picture. When I came back, it was to find that Blake had had his first (and only so far!) huge diaper blow out. There was no way we could even get a picture taken. Off came the Christmas jammies and back into the washing machine they went. Total time spent in them on Christmas day: less than 5 minutes.

Bummer! We started to joke about the curse of the Christmas jammies (because Blake does not typically spit up like that and he almost never has diaper leaks or blow outs). We still do not have a picture of all of us wearing our Christmas jammies at the same time. Better luck next time!

Christmas morning was super fun this year. Katelee was very excited about all of her gifts, and Blake (while not exactly excited about Christmas at this age) was spoiled rotten still! There was a lot of love, laughter, a few tears, and tons of fun.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Christmas morning this year:

Katelee lined her dolls up next to Blake - we thought it looked pretty funny!

Blake's gift to Katelee this year was this sweet puppy - she loves it!
Katelee's gifts to Blake - purchased with her very own money.
All ready for church!

  1. I love the picture holding up her Christmas underwear like she is sooo thrilled with underwear! (they grow out of that! Bailey and Isaac are not so thrilled with the underwear for Christmas anymore!!!)
